Greta Thunberg Turns Activism Focus to "Justice for China"

"Repeat after me 'I stand with China'" she commands her followers

The 22-year old environmental activist Greta Tintin Eleonora Ernman Thunberg, famous for launching her career at the age of 15 has found a new cause to spend her time protesting and, in her mind, hopefully return herself to the center of attention after years of dwindling stardom. According to press conference she held today, supposedly to be about encouraging a student strike in support of the latest UN climate change conference, she’s now running a new nonprofit called “Justice For China” and switching focus to protesting “Trump’s dangerous, bigoted tariffs and hatred of China” while encouraging the world to “put China first” as she trotted out a surprise guest, Chinese premier Xi Jingping, and gave him a large hug during her press conference.

Of course Greta has switched her focus before. In 2023 and throughout 2024 she helped stage sit-ins, roadblocks, and other protests in support of Palestine.

Yet today’s announcement is a bit more stunning and surprising. There were large and well-established pro-Palestinian protest movements throughout the West long before Greta hitched herself to them.

There isn’t anything like that in the West yet defending and promoting China at scale, so Greta is clearly blazing a new path with questionable outlook for success in her latest venture—or is she?

We all saw how quickly everyone “fell” for the latest “current thing” each of the last few years. Greta clearly gained her popularity by latching on to every new “current thing” as it matured and rode each new wave forward. But this time, is the new “current thing” going to be China, and is Greta just beating everyone to it?

Greta’s suggestions for protesting the “cruel” American tariffs on China do happen to look a lot like the past few “current thing”

For one, “Stand With China” is her slogan and she asks everyone to put that phrase alongside a Chinese flag in their social media profiles and email profile pictures.

“Donating to support the People’s Liberation Army” through her “Justice For China” foundation is another request she’s made of her supporters.

“Blockade roads for China,” she suggests. “Boycott American goods and only buy China” is another.

Some conservative commentators have found it suspiciously coincidental that in her meeting with Chinese premier Xi Jingping today, Greta Thunberg was presented with the People’s Republic of China’s “The Medal of the Republic", the country’s highest honorary medal awarded for outstanding contributions to socialist construction and national defense.

“Obviously a Chinese Chi-com psy-op,” said Mark Steyn on his radio program today. “Of course we knew it was a psy-op, but this just proves that the Chinese are bribing her to protest and take down the West from the inside.”

Greta Thunberg claims she’s not “biased against the West for any reason” and that she just “sees incredible travesties being committed by the West and especially the United States against China. “It’s called JUSTICE FOR CHINA. Repeat after me ‘I stand with China.’”
